Adopt Red Eared Monkey 'Mickey'
Adoptions are available as a either monthly (£5.00/month) or a one time payment for 6 months (£25.00) or 12 months (£50.00). Your adoption will help to support 'Mickey's care during that time; you will receive a fridge magnet with 'Mickey's' photo, an adoption certificate and quarterly adoption newsletter for the period of your adoption. MICKEY'S STORY: Little ‘Mickey’ an endangered female red eared guenon, arrived in July 07 as a tiny orphan we believed to be less than one month old. She initially required full time care and 2-hour feedings, and was cared for full time by our volunteer veterinary nurse. But after a short time little male mona ‘Big Qua’ joined us. 'Big Qua' didn't really live up to his name, being roughly the same size as 'Mickey'. He was named after the area of Calabar he was found in, which also happens to be our district. They were placed together in quarantine for their ‘mental health’ - to give them another monkey to cuddle up to at night and to play with during the day. It is illegal to keep monkeys as pets - at CERCOPAN we work hard to get this message across to the public, to both school children and adults. 'Mickey's' story is a sad one but unfortunately also typical. Your adoption will help us give 'Mickey' what she needs for a new start in life.
