Rhoko Research and Education Centre
The centre is the field site of CERCOPAN's headquarters in Calabar, and the base for CERCOPAN's forest conservation and research programmes. It was established as a result of a long term agreement with Iko Esai community, in their community forest close to Rhoko River, from where it gets its name. 'Rhoko' was officially opened in March 2003, complete with traditional blessings delivered by Chief Owai, Village Head of Iko Esai and an address by Clan Head, Chief Nelson Etan.

Education, research, community and conservation programmes are carried out from this base, and extensive facilities for both administration and research as well as education, including a one hectare electric fence enclosure for rehabilitated primates, a viewing platform, education centre, over 12 km of transects through protected forest, administrative offices, accommodation and a tree platform 22 metres up in the canopy. The centre welcomes many visitors annually, including school children, members of the host community and a small number of ecotourists.
