CERCOPAN

Up London Event

February 2007- Thank you, Donors and Supporters
On the 22nd February 2007, CERCOPAN held its first event in recognition of the support of donors, volunteers and friends, at Imperial College, London. Dubbed "CERCOPAN: Celebrating Working for Primate Conservation in Nigeria since 1995 ", many photos were on display (58 large colour A3 and A4), illustrating CERCOPAN's work; Tunde Morakinyo, one of CERCOPAN's trustees, gave a 20 minute power point presentation highlighting CERCOPAN's programmes and achievements. Founder and Director Zena Tooze welcomed everyone to the event and thanked all those present for their support, as well as thanking absent friends and supporters. A wine and buffet reception was held, followed by a social afterwards for those who could stay on. Eight former volunteers, both long and short term attended, and another 50 friends and supporters. We took the opportunity to particularly thank Cyril Rosen, who attended with other International Primate Protection League trustees and supporters, for all his support over the years, which started with the award to CERCOPAN of their first grant in 1995. All trustees of CERCOPAN were there or represented - Chief Assam Assam could not be there in person, his children studying in the UK attended to represent him. We were proud to have representatives amongst our guests from: Monkey World, The Jane Goodall Institute, Durrell Wildlife Trust, Chester, Chessington and Colchester Zoos, Leventis, Living Earth, Oxford Brookes University, Flora and Fauna International and The Nigerian Field Society', the Zoological Society of London, Seacor Marine, Kew Gardens.

No-one was more surprised than Zena (with trustee Sarah Seymour left), when former volunteer Laura Slinger presented a cheque for £500 to CERCOPAN - the results of a fundraiser that Laura held recently.
