University students participate in field activities at

Outreach to children and adults in the rural environment
is crucial to the long term future of these forests, and indeed to the
welfare of the people who live close to them and have such extensive
knowledge about them. CERCOPAN has developed a rural school
outreach programme, encouraging and supporting school conservation
clubs.
We also aim to increase hands-on opportunities for Nigerian secondary
and post secondary students and international students to learn about
the rainforests of Nigeria. CERCOPAN has been providing unique
opportunities for study in the form of practical field courses which
teach students vital practical skills—over 120 students from 4 national
universities have benefited from this program in the first 2 years since
start-up, from a wide range of disciplines including environmental
education, zoology, botany and wildlife programs. |
